Prime Minister Han Seong-sook and the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea discussed regulatory reform, foreign investment and deeper economic cooperation between Korea and the US on Friday.

Held at The Shilla Seoul, the meeting brought together about 200 participants, including Korean government officials, foreign business representatives and executives from AmCham’s Board of Governors and member companies.

AmCham Chair and CEO James Kim opened the event, followed by remarks from Han and an onstage conversation between the two leaders.

Their discussion focused on Korea’s economic and industrial policies, measures to attract foreign investment and opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation. They also examined Korea’s response to shifting geopolitical conditions, its artificial intelligence ecosystem and its competitiveness as a destination for global investment and regional corporate headquarters.

Han said Korea and the US are expanding cooperation across AI, advanced technologies, supply chains, energy and strategic investment. She also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting foreign companies operating in Korea.

On cross-border investment, Han called for projects that would generate shared benefits for both economies and encouraged AmCham members to propose opportunities involving Korean and US companies.

The public discussion was followed by a closed-door luncheon with executives from major member companies.

AmCham said it would maintain regular policy dialogue with the government and pursue cooperation through its AI Leadership Council and other industry-focused initiatives.

“AmCham looks forward to working closely with Prime Minister Han and the Korean government to turn today’s dialogue into meaningful progress and ensure that the next chapter of the US-Korea economic partnership is even stronger than the last,” Kim said.
