Simmons has partnered with Posco and Kiswire to jointly develop and supply specialized steel wire used in mattress springs, strengthening its domestic supply chain for key materials.

The mattress maker detailed the trilateral collaboration during a media tour held Wednesday through Friday at the Simmons Factorium, its manufacturing facility in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.

Under the partnership, Simmons and Posco will jointly research spring wire designed specifically for mattresses. Kiswire will then process the Posco-made wire using specialty wire technology before supplying it to Simmons, which will use the material to manufacture mattresses designed for durability.

“This partnership is an exemplary case of corporate collaboration, with each company’s core capabilities and technologies organically connected,” Lee Jong-sung, vice president of production and logistics strategy at Simmons, said. “It will provide a foundation for strengthening Simmons’ future competitiveness.”

During the tour, the company also introduced the “Simmons Standard 5,” a set of criteria covering its production and customer-service processes.

The standards comprise vanadium pocket springs, quality control, a clean manufacturing environment, direct delivery and customer care.

“True premium quality at Simmons means applying the same strict standards consistently across every stage,” Lee said.

Simmons also highlighted its expanded product safety standards. In addition to existing radon and thoron safety certifications, environmental labeling and flame-retardant mattress production, the company has obtained international UL Greenguard Gold and Dermatest Excellent certifications.

Simmons said it plans to continue strengthening its safety and quality controls to provide customers with a safer and more comfortable sleep environment.
