LG Energy Solution said Friday it has become the first battery-maker to join the automotive software marketplace SDVerse, as the South Korean battery giant is accelerating its push into the fast-growing software-defined vehicle market.
SDVerse is a business-to-business marketplace platform developed in collaboration with industry leaders such as General Motors, Canadian parts-maker Magna International, and Indian information technology service company Wipro. The platform allows automakers, global parts suppliers and software developers to buy and sell vehicle software in a single marketplace.
The company unveiled five software solutions through SDVerse, including battery platform software, a safety diagnostic calibration tool, onboard FRISM, onboard BLiS, and onboard DASH.
The battery platform software enables comprehensive analysis of battery conditions, and the safety diagnostic calibration tool is software that conducts safety checks and simulation verification based on battery data.
Onboard FRISM is an algorithm-based software that projects battery conditions based on field data, using machine learning to accurately assess the level of degradation. Onboard BLiS, or battery life simulator, is an algorithm that predicts battery degradation and estimates changes in performance under various conditions.
Onboard DASH, or degradation reduction action strategy for battery health, is an algorithm tailored to electric vehicles. Through a quantitative analysis of the user’s driving and charging habits, it inspects battery conditions in real time and provides guidance for long-term battery use.
“We are happy to showcase LG Energy Solution’s cutting-edge battery management software and SDV-tailored battery planning,” said Prashant Gulati, CEO of SDVerse.
“Ahead of the SDV era, we will reinforce our technical leadership to accelerate growth in the electric vehicle and battery market,” said Kim Je-young, CTO of LG Energy Solution, citing ambitions to solidify its position as a total solution provider.
