Booyoung Group on Wednesday held a groundbreaking ceremony for a school within the builder’s new housing complex, called Booyoung Town, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Woojeong Cambodia School will be located on a site of 15,475 square meters, consisting of three five-story buildings. Seventy-one classrooms for some 1,800 students from kindergarten to high school will be accommodated. “Woojeong” means “friendship” in Korean.

Booyoung Town is a huge apartment complex encompassing nearly 15,000 households. So far, construction of 1,474 housing units has been completed for sale.

“We thank Booyoung Group for contributing to the improvement of housing conditions and the establishment of educational infrastructure in Cambodia by building this large school in Booyoung Town,” said Cambodian Education Minister Hang Chun Naron during the ceremony.

Chairman of Booyoung Group Lee Joong-keun and Korean Ambassador to Cambodia Park Heung-kyeong also took part in the event.

Booyoung Group has donated 3,000 digital pianos and 40,000 smartboards to Cambodia to help improve their educational conditions.
