[THE INVESTOR] Cmune, a Hong Kong-based mobile game maker that originally started in Korea 10 years ago, on May 18 launched the Korean service of its latest multimedia mobile shooting game “Deadheads.”

“Ten years ago, it seemed difficult to build a global game company from Korea,” Ludovic Bodin, CEO and co-founder of Cmune, told The Investor. “But we would love to have a new presence in Korea and try again with the right partner.”

The CEO called Korea an important test bed for the latest game, a tactical multiplayer first-person shooter game set in a sci-fi universe. He founded the company back in 2007 in Korea together with Shaun Lelacheur and then two years later shifted the headquarters to Hong Kong.

“Korea is one of the top five markets for mobile games in terms of revenue and it is also one of the trickiest markets to satisfy as local players are very experienced gamers,” he said.

The company plans to debut the game in China in the coming months, before which it aims to create a strong fan community among Korean players.
