South Korean telecom giant KT announced Tuesday that it has completed a Thai large language model platform project in partnership with Jasmine Technology Solutions, the tech affiliate of Thailand’s Jasmine Group.
The yearlong project makes KT the first Korean company to establish a comprehensive artificial intelligence infrastructure overseas. The initiative included building an LLM operations system and a graphics processing unit farm for AI computing and developing a Thai-specialized LLM model.
KT tailored the LLM operations system to Jasmine's needs, enabling efficient and stable AI operations. Together with KT Cloud, it also deployed GPU infrastructure locally, allowing the Thai firm to offer GPU-as-a-Service to local companies and institutions.
The Thai LLM model was co-developed with Korean AI startup Upstage and supports Thai, English and Korean. Trained on extensive Thai-language data, the model provides accurate responses to topics related to Thai politics, history and culture.
KT and Jasmine will continue their collaboration, aiming to enhance AI platforms, expand infrastructure and launch new AI services. With this project, KT has secured a global reference and plans to expand its AI business into Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
