Samsung SDI announced Monday that it won two InterBattery Awards in recognition of its 50A high-power cylindrical battery cell and advanced electrode technology for electric vehicle batteries.
The awards ceremony was held earlier in the day, ahead of InterBattery 2025, the nation’s largest battery trade show, which will take place from March 5 to 7 at Coex in southern Seoul.
Samsung SDI’s 50A cylindrical battery cell, capable of delivering 50 amperes of current, features a multitab design at both ends, enhancing power output and lifespan, the company said. In contrast, typical cylindrical cells have only two tabs on each side.
Meanwhile, the company’s new electrode technology incorporates high-nickel materials into the electrodes of lithium iron phosphate batteries, enabling higher energy density while maintaining LFP’s safety benefits.
