South Korean display maker Samsung Display announced Tuesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with US chip giant Qualcomm Technologies to supply OLED panels for advanced in-cabin experiences, further expanding its presence in the vehicle display market.
Under the agreement, Samsung Display will provide a 34-inch 6K (6008x934) wide OLED panel for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Experience Development Platform. Part of the Snapdragon Digital Chassis Solution, the CEDP is designed to enhance in-cabin digital experiences through artificial intelligence-driven graphics, personalized infotainment and autonomous driving support.
Samsung Display’s OLED panel is expected to bring a more immersive experience to next-generation vehicles, the company said.
“As autonomous driving and vehicle software become more sophisticated, the importance of displays in visualizing these functions is increasing,” said Lee Ho-joong, executive vice president and head of product planning at Samsung Display's Small and Medium-sized Display Division.
“Samsung Display’s differentiated automotive display solutions effectively bring to life Qualcomm’s exceptional automotive technology solutions.”
At CES 2025 in Las Vegas last month, Samsung Display and Qualcomm showcased the OLED-powered cockpit demo kit, drawing attention from global automakers and automotive parts manufacturers.
