Shinsegae Group’s e-commerce unit Gmarket announced Friday that it has partnered with Malltail, a global logistics and e-commerce provider, to strengthen overseas shopping services and competitiveness in the growing cross-border market.
The two companies signed a strategic joint business plan Thursday, with Gmarket Sales Division head Lee Min-gyu and Malltail CEO Kim Hae-dong discussing plans to expand Malltail’s product offerings on Gmarket and boost marketing efforts throughout the year.
Under the agreement, Gmarket will broaden the range of Malltail products available on its platform, while Malltail will introduce overseas products from various countries beyond those already offered on Gmarket. A new Malltail brand shop will also launch on Gmarket later this year, providing customers easier access to cross-border products, according to the company.
The two companies plan to work together to coordinate product launches and inventory management to ensure smooth operations. In addition, Malltail will receive marketing support through Gmarket and its sister platform Auction to reach more customers.
Malltail’s global logistics expertise is expected to strengthen Gmarket’s cross-border e-commerce operations, while Gmarket’s extensive domestic customer base will help Malltail grow its presence in South Korea, the company explained.
“We are excited to collaborate with Malltail to strengthen our international shopping category,” Lee said. “By offering a wider range of products at competitive prices, we aim to provide our customers with an improved shopping experience.”
