Korean portal giant Naver announced on Monday the launch of a multilingual guide for its navigation app, Naver Map, aimed at making travel in Korea easier for foreign tourists.

The guide is available in three languages -- English, Chinese and Japanese -- and provides tips on how to explore destinations and navigate public transportation, making it the only navigation app in Korea that supports four languages.

The guide includes detailed instructions on how to find attractions, use real-time public transportation information and plan trips efficiently. To improve accessibility, Naver said it will distribute printed leaflets at key locations frequented by foreign tourists, such as Incheon Airport, the Airport Railroad information desks and the Myeong-dong Welcome Center.

“As more tourists visit Korea, we aim to make Naver Map the go-to travel tool for exploring the country with ease,” Choi Seung-rak, head of Naver’s map service team, said. “Through partnerships with overseas influencers and targeted promotions, we also plan to expand the app’s global recognition, so travelers can rely on it even before arriving in Korea.”

Since 2018, Naver has been enhancing the app’s usability for non-Korean speakers. This year, the app expanded its translation capabilities to include user reviews and filters, while improving the accuracy of translated details for locations and public transportation, the company said.

Naver added that it plans to introduce features enabling foreign users to make reservations for restaurants and events directly through the app by next year. The company is also developing AI-powered tools to improve search accuracy in multiple languages, in an effort to position itself as a must-have tool for foreign visitors exploring Korea.
