[THE INVESTOR] The Investor’s Choice 2018, an awards ceremony focused on promising startups hosted by The Korea Herald’s investment news platform The Investor, will be held on Nov. 28.

The one-day event aims to celebrate startups that have demonstrated the highest level of innovation this year and seeks to encourage open discussions about startups that are breaking new ground here.

The ceremony will kick off with opening remarks by Herald Corp. Chairman Jungwook Hong. Fleur Pellerin, co-founder and managing partner of Paris-based VC firm Korelya Capital, will take the center stage for a keynote address, along with Lee Chang-wook, Korea country director of Money20/20, a global fintech conference leader and main partner of The Investor’s Choice 2018.

The grand prize -- Quantum Award -- will be given to a startup judged to be the most inspirational and innovative by a panel of experts and investors including London-based Founders Factory executive Peony Li, SparkLabs co-founder Bernard Moon and Lotte Accelerator CIO Lee Jong-hoon.

Four other companies have already been chosen to receive the Next Award, given to startups with the potential to become the next Quantum winner. They include Toss (Viva Republica), Yanolja, Blocko, Memebox and Fastfive.

The award winners will share their stories of success and failure to help motivate the audience -- mostly startups and aspiring entrepreneurs.

A high-profile panel including Pellerin, founder and CEO of Viva Republica Lee Seung-gun, SparkLabs co-founder Jimmy Kim and WeWork Korea General Manager Matthew Shampine will discuss the future of startups in a VIP panel discussion titled “Future of Korean startups: Achievements, Challenges and Global Reach.” The discussion will be moderated by The Investor Editor-in-Chief Kim Ji-hyun.

The forum takes place at Yeong Bin Gwan, The Shilla Hotel Seoul, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Click here for more information and registration.
