[THE INVESTOR] LG Electronics said on Oct. 31 it has applied what it calls the robotic process automation to daily office work, seeking to save employee’s time on simple tasks, such as organizing data.

The tech giant said it already uses the technology in 120 tasks from different divisions, including sales, marketing, procurement, accounting and personnel, claiming the number will hover above 200 by the end of 2018.

LG said the RPA system will automatically access corporate systems, download data and write documents in a specific style.

The company said the system currently carries out the amount of work that would call for 3,000 hours when done by employees in a single month.

LG said the new system does not center on replacing people but rather helping employees focus on analyzing and solving issues, instead of spending time finding and organizing data.

The company said it is applying artificial intelligence technologies to monitor the bonds of business partners to predict potential defaults.

An AI program is also currently responding to workers’ questions on corporate issues, the company added.
