SK hynix chief ranked best CEO in 2017

[THE INVESTOR] The chief of leading chipmaker SK hynix was named the best-performing CEO for last year in a ranking compiled by a corporate tracking site on June 27.

Park Sung-wook received 80.5 out of 100 points in the evaluation of CEOs who were in office for at least a year as of end-March this year at one of the top 500 firms, according to CEO Score. A total of 457 CEOs were put on the list of candidates and rated in five categories: sales, last year‘s company growth in comparison to compound annual growth rate over the previous three years, return on equity, debt ratio and employment.

The average score was 51.7.

Park built his career in the semiconductor industry and became the CEO of SK hynix in 2012. Company sales last year reached 30.1 trillion won (US$26.92 billion) with a net profit of 10.64 trillion won, a record for the firm.

CEO Song Jin-hwa of SK Trading International came in second with 73 points. He was followed by Moon Jong-bak of Hyundai Oilbank (70 points), Othman Al-Ghamdi of S-Oil (66.5 points), Kim Hyung-kun of SK Global Chemical (61.5 points), Kwon Young-soo of LG Uplus (60 points), Cha Nam-gyu of Hanwha Life (57.5 points), Huh Jin-soo of GS Caltex (57 points) and Sohn Kyung-shik of CJ Corp (55.5 points).

SK Telecom’s CEO Park Jung-ho (55 points) also made it to the top 10 for a total of four high-ranked CEOs from SK Group companies on the list.
