[THE INVESTOR] The Korean police on April 17 started a formal investigation into allegations of improper conduct by Korean Air heiress Cho Hyun-min after securing testimonies that she did throw water on the face of a local ad agency employee during a recent meeting after getting upset.

Cho has been taken into custody for questioning and is banned from leaving the country until notified otherwise.

The Korean Air heiress had previously denied the charges, claiming she had only pushed one of the participants in the meeting. The police had been reviewing the case to see if they should begin a full-fledged investigation.

Cho is under fire for her mistreatment of employees, allegedly on a regular basis. A petition has been filed with the government calling on the country’s flagship carrier to shed the word “Korean” from its name, citing the behavior of not only Cho, but her elder sister Cho Hyun-ah -- a former executive who faced flak and resigned after forcing an international flight to return to the gate after getting upset over how a bag of nuts was served.

The younger Cho has apologized and said she is willing to take “full” legal responsibility.
