Samsung announces new enhanced Exynos 7
[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics on March 22 announced a new Exynos 7 application processor that comes with improved deep learning and image processing features.
The Korean tech giant said it has applied the top-notch 10 nanometer FinFET process technology on the Exynos 7 9610, as with the high-end Exynos 9 series, to provide a wider scope of premium products to users.
The Exynos 7 9610 will be mass-produced in the second half of this year.
Samsung said it has especially focused on improving image processing features in line with the latest trends in the smartphone industry.
Based on deep-learning technology, cameras will also be able to quickly identify faces of people even when their faces are obscured by hair or hats, Samsung said. It will also be capable of taking photos that blur backgrounds to deliver more vivid images of objects or people.
“Not only has the Exynos 7 9610 improved performances, it is a product specialized for camera and multi-media features,” Samsung said. “The image processing technology, based on deep-learning, along with slow-motion feature will deliver distinctive experiences to users.”
The speed of image signal processor is 1.6 times faster than the Exynos 7 7885, and that of the mobile industry processor interface, which connects processors and image sensors, also doubled.
