[THE INVESTOR] Tech giant Samsung Electronics is speeding up its pace to grow the LED business in Europe, inking a series of partnerships in the region.

The Korean electronics manufacturer has recently decided to work with German display solutions firm Lang to run LED operations in Europe. The company offers comprehensive expert advice on maintenance, repairs, and installation, and also specializes in planning and executing business-to-business projects in the sector.

The latest partnership comes as the Korean tech firm has been trying to shift its focus to digital signage displays amid the sluggish demand for TVs.

“In a strong partnership like this, it is a pleasure to offer thoughtful and individualized concepts in system integration. With Samsung’s quality products and LANG’s expertise and high level of service, we will be able to provide customized state-of-the-art solutions,” said Tobias Lang, CEO of the European firm, in a press release.

Samsung’s latest move is also line with its efforts to foster cinema LEDs, which eliminate the need of conventional projectors in theaters.

In Zurich, Samsung has partnered with cinema chain Arena Cinema to install the LED-based screen, for the first time in Europe, in one of the theaters run by the Swiss firm.

The screen measuring 10.3 meters in width and 5.4 meters in height supports 4K resolution and the high dynamic range technology, which helps improve brightness and contrast.

In addition to the immersive viewing experience, moviegoers are able to enjoy a quality sound thanks to Harman Kardon’s JBL audio system installed at the movie theater, according to the Korean firm.
