[THE INVESTOR]  Amorepacific, Korea’s biggest cosmetics maker, launched its first Etude House outlet in Dubai on March 17.

The new Etude House store is located in a local shopping mall Dubai Mall, which over 80 million people visit annually.

In December 2016, the cosmetics maker joined hands with Alshaya Group. As the largest retailer in the Middle East, the group currently handles distribution for over 70 global retail brands, such as Starbucks, H&M and Victoria’s Secret. “Since we are just entering the Middle East market, we are jointly operating the new outlet with a local partner,” a Amorepacific spokesperson told The Investor.

Amorepacific’s new outlet in Dubai comes as the Korean beauty giant is seeking to reduce its dependency on the Chinese market and diversify its market portfolio. Amorepacific and the local partner will also open another Etude House outlet in Kuwait on March 22.

Moreover, Amorepacific added that it plans to gradually expand its presence in other Middle East countries, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
