Coway adds clothes freshener in rental portfolio

[THE INVESTOR] South Korea’s leading water and air purifier maker Coway will add a clothing care system to its rental portfolio, the company said on Jan. 16. The service will be released within the first half of this year.

Coway’s Fresh Wear Styling System, the company’s first home dry-cleaning system, was unveiled at the 2018 CES in Las Vegas, which ended on Jan. 12.

FWSS, a steam closet, is designed to remove odors and wrinkles on the clothes and refresh the air inside the closet.

The product will be both available for sale and rental, the company said.

Those who purchase or rent the product will receive maintenance service on regular basis, to ensure the product quality.

FWSS was also named the 2018 CES Innovation Award honoree, for its outstanding design and use of innovative technology.

“Coway’s FWSS will become one of the major rental service along with water and air purifier, not only strengthening our rental product lineup but also innovating related market,” said CEO Lee Hae-sun.

At the 2018 CES, Coway also unveiled artificial intelligence-powered Active Action air purifier and Coway Tower, an air purifier that runs on Apple’s home automation platform HomeKit.
