[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics said on Jan. 10 that its smart TV security solution has secured an internationally recognized certification for safeguarding computers.

The Korean tech giant said its smart TV received the Common Criteria certification for the third consecutive year.

Samsung said its Knox’s technology -- integrated into all smart TV lineups from this year -- detects and removes malicious applications that can steal important data.

“At Samsung, security is our top priority in developing Smart TV technology,” Han Jong-hee, president of Samsung‘s Visual Display Business, said in comments posted on the company’s website. “We are committed to providing one of the most reliable security solutions on the market for our Smart TV users.”

Separately, Samsung said its checkout payment service was also certified by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
