[THE INVESTOR] Korean flat-panel display maker LG Display said on Jan.9 that it has showcased the world’s first 65-inch ultra high-definition rollable OLED panel at the world’s largest consumer electronics tradeshow in the US.

The OLED display “can be rolled up and hidden when not in use, and the small size of the rolled-up screen means that it can be more easily moved and stored, allowing for better space utilization, something existing displays can‘t deliver on at present,” LG Display said.

The firm showcased its technological prowess at a convention center in Las Vegas on Jan.8, a day ahead of the opening of the Consumer Electronics Show.

It aims to sell 2.8 million large-size OLED displays this year and plans to increase its sales target of large-size OLED displays to 6.5 million units in 2020.

LG Display said it plans to expand production of OLED displays through its investment in China.
