[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics on Sept. 21 started sales of the Galaxy Note 8 and V30 in the country.

Samsung is estimated to have sold 400,000 units of the Galaxy Note 8 from through preorders, industry sources said. The figure beats the Galaxy Note 7, which raked in some 380,000 preorders.

Samsung earlier said the combined number of preorders came to 850,000, but the actual figure is presumed to be lower due to delays made by mobile carriers and double-counting errors, they added.

The Galaxy Note 8 boasts a 6.3-inch display, its signature S Pen stylus and a dual-lens camera setup. With the Infinity Display, the company has almost eliminated side bezels to give the device a simple yet immersive design.

The phablet is also the first Samsung flagship smartphone to boast two optically stabilized 12-megapixel lenses that will allow users to take both wide-angle and telephoto shots.

Preorders for the LG V30 were also estimated to be 1 1/2 times more than for the G6 smartphone launched earlier this year, industry sources added.
