Naver’s Q2 operating profit up 5%
[THE INVESTOR] Naver, Korea’s top internet portal operator, said on July 27 that its operating income inched up 4.6 percent in the second quarter from a year.
Sales jumped 14.4 percent on-year to 1.12 trillion won (US$1 billion) during the April-June period, the company said in a press release.
Its operating income edged up 4.6 percent on-year to 285.2 billion won on a consolidated basis during the same period, but its net profit dropped 20 percent on-year to reach 171 billion won.
Revenue from its advertisement business surged 21.9 percent on-year to 117.7 billion won in the second quarter, helped by new mobile products and improved mobile platform.
Revenues from its search-related business also increased 12.6 percent on-year to 520.5 billion won during the same period, helped by a strengthened mobile search engine, the company said.
