[THE INVESTOR] Hanwha L&C has joined hands with Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces to build an acrylic artificial marble manufacturing facility in Texas to strengthen its position in the world’s largest market for building materials, it said on July 18.

They established a 50:50 joint venture for Hanwha L&C’s first plant in the US, and its second overseas after an engineered stone factory in Canada.
The US plant to be built on a 33,000 square meter site near the partner’s headquarters, will begin operations next year, and will be a significant leg up to tackle North America and Latin America markets, said a company official.

Hanwha and Wilsonart, a global leader in high-pressure laminate and engineered surface materials, will develop new products that will cater to the specific needs of the customers in the region. The local facility will enable its scheme for one-week delivery in the North American region, he added.
