[THE INVESTOR] The volatility in US dollar-won exchange rates slightly increased in the first quarter from the previous three-month period, central bank data showed on April 20.

The average daily variation, showing the change from the previous session’s closing price, came to 5.70 won in the January-March period, up from 4.90 won in the previous quarter, according to the Bank of Korea.

The increased fluctuation in the exchange rates came as the dollar has weakened since late last year, the BOK said.

Meanwhile, the average gap between the daily high and low of the dollar-won exchange rates came to 6.90 won in the first quarter, down from a 7 won fluctuation a quarter earlier, the BOK said.
